The dates a Nigerian company fleet cannot afford to miss
Company cars, pool vehicles, vans and buses each carry their own papers, and each paper has an expiry date. Put them in 4fleet once, so the reminders are in the app before a vehicle is stopped at a checkpoint.
Vehicle licence renewal
The annual vehicle licence has to be renewed before it expires. Record the expiry date and keep the receipt on the vehicle record, so it can be shown at a checkpoint or during a stop.
Third-party motor insurance
Third-party cover is compulsory for every vehicle on the road. Renew the policy before the end date, and keep the certificate attached to the vehicle in the app.
Roadworthiness certificate
A vehicle must be certified roadworthy by the road safety authorities, and the certificate is needed for registration, transfers and many inspections. Note the issue date and the renewal date for every vehicle.
Driver's licence
Each driver must hold a valid licence for the class of vehicle they drive. Save the expiry date on the driver's profile and link it to the vehicles that driver is assigned.
Vehicle particulars and ownership papers
Vehicle particulars and ownership papers are needed when a car is sold, transferred or re-registered. Keep a scanned copy with the vehicle, so nothing depends on a single original in a glovebox.
Servicing and tyres
Servicing follows the manufacturer's plan and the workshop's advice. In 4fleet you set one service interval in months for the whole fleet, and a service that falls due is flagged by date.
How to start with 4fleet
Add your vehicles
Enter the registration number (plate), make, model, year and the other details of each vehicle. A fleet of ten or a fleet of two hundred takes the same simple steps.
Assign drivers and set the dates
Link each vehicle to its driver with the licence expiry date. Add the vehicle licence, insurance, roadworthiness and particulars dates, with the scanned papers attached. Reminders appear in the app before each date.
Record fuel, workshop and trips
Log petrol and diesel fills, workshop jobs line by line, and trip sheets. 4fleet works out fuel consumption, cost per vehicle, cost per kilometre and total cost of ownership.
What 4fleet does, and what it does not
What you get today
- A register of vehicles and drivers, with each driver's licence expiry date and each vehicle's documents attached.
- Dated reminders for licences, insurance, roadworthiness and servicing, shown in the app before each deadline.
- A fuel log, maintenance records with the amount on each line, trip sheets, and cost per vehicle, cost per kilometre and total cost of ownership.
What it does not do
- No GPS and no telematics. 4fleet does not locate vehicles and does not read any tracker or on-board unit.
- No e-mail, SMS, WhatsApp or push notifications. Reminders are shown inside the app only, so the dashboard needs checking.
- No mileage-based service alerts and no per-vehicle service intervals. Servicing uses one time-based interval, in months, for the whole fleet.

Questions Nigerian fleet managers ask about 4fleet
How do the renewal reminders work?
When a vehicle licence, insurance cover, roadworthiness certificate, driver's licence or service date is getting close, 4fleet shows it on the dashboard and in the list of upcoming dates. No e-mail or SMS is sent, so check the app regularly.
Does 4fleet track vehicles with GPS?
No. 4fleet is a records and cost tool. It does not locate vehicles, does not track live positions and does not connect to any tracker.
Can I see the cost per vehicle and per kilometre?
Yes. Record the fuel fills, workshop jobs and trip sheets, and 4fleet shows the cost per vehicle, the cost per kilometre and the total cost of ownership for each vehicle.
Does 4fleet connect to accounting, tax or invoicing software?
No. 4fleet has no link to accounting packages, tax systems or e-invoicing. The costs are recorded in the app, and your accountant can review them there.
Do I have to install anything?
No. 4fleet runs in the browser on a laptop or a smartphone. Create the account, add your vehicles and start.
I keep everything in a spreadsheet today. Where do I start?
Start with the vehicle register and the driver list, then add the licence, insurance and roadworthiness dates. Fuel and workshop history fill in over the next few weeks as new costs are recorded.
